Having whiled away an increasing number of idle hours on Twitter, FriendFeed, and BrightKite, I came to the realization that I needed to upgrade my skill at using these phenomenal pieces of social technology. I'm hereby dedicating the name of "tweetsmanship" to the art of using Twitter and its ilk most effectively. I prefer to use a browser and my preferred browser is Safari.
My first act of tweetsmanship was to make use of bookmarks to access the posts of certain FriendFeed feed friends, who open the gates to interesting discourse. (Yes, Scoble, Dave Winer, and Loïc Lemeur bookmarks are listed.) These are all under a Bookmarks Bar folder designated as ff to save space on my Booksmark bar. In the same folder I keep http://istwitterdown.com because I have had to use it a lot lately.
My next act of tweetsmanship was to develop a powerful left thumb for holding down the command key when I open up a Twitter page. Then I click on the avatars of all the friends I am interested in following at that particular moment in time. That opens up a row of tabs, each with a clicked-on friend's own Twitter page. Doing this makes it much easier to follow their conversations and train of thought, however loose, than doing searches on quotably and summize.
I have just resurrected schmu.us from the blog graveyard. It is not a blog. It is an unblog. When I write something new, this will disappear to be replaced by the new thing. If you liked this tweetsmanship thing, save it because it will be gone soon. The schmu.us URL is always the same: http://schmu.us (duh.)
